This page talk about the pyguicms project. The PYthon Graphical User Interface Content Management System. The next generation of the GUICMS project.
Not realy in the begin of my web development carrier, i made the GUICMS from scratch, a content management system writen in PHP. Some webtool which worked almost perfectly at my taste. I had build the GUICMS because i was learning HTML, PHP, CSS etc in dept and needed some project to learn from. At the same time, i was still playing with Python left and right as i was sure (and still is so) that Python will get a great success. I liked much more Python than PHP. The way to code the website is completely different between both languages. It's just a completely other style of working.
During the building of my custom CMS i feeled it almost necessairy, if not a required a tool for an IT'er. I got many documents that i wanted to put online. I agree, in the begin it was much more as an intranet as a website. Most document stayed in a private state. But step by step the CMS grow up and more and more data was put in the database. As i was happy with my toy, i worked much an much on the content of the database by creating articles about IT related stuff.
After some months of work, the GUICMS become cool and nice to use. The only drawback is that it was made in PHP and i liked so much Python. I started to look after some alternative, a way to program the same toy but in Python. After testing a few python webframeworks (webpy, Django, TurboGears) i falled in love with TurboGears.
After messing arround with these different Python webframeworks i decided to stay at TurboGears. Now, more as a year later, still happy about TurboGears and the way my initial GUICMS grow out of myself.
There's not yet some informations about the PYGUICMS project here. The informations should be centralized and merged here or there. You probably want to see the pyguicms project in action or get some technical view or help. Anyway, to get more informations, you should check the pyguicms-trac.
Note that there's the stable pyguicms version as well the pyguicms development version running online. You should expect some errors if you are browsing on the development pyguicms version. Each time i modify some code, the engine reload automatically and can give some errors if you requested a page at the same time. That's why i recommend to make use of the stable pyguicms version to browse this website. If you want to see the latest features, go on the pyguicms development version.
We make use of trac as bug tracking system and to store all help files. See the pyguicms-trac. If you want or need to report bugs or features, it's this place to go.
Coming soon...
