This page is dedicated to the r00t project. This page give a brief description of the project with some screenshots.

Introduction

The r00t web project is what you are currently viewing. This website is the r00t project. Just a basic dynamic website written in Python with the TurboGears web framework with as goal to be a complete content management system. Adding new content is a matter of few clicks and entering the wanted data to fill in the content of your pages with a WYSIWYG editor.

This r00t here is mostly used as personal website where the most important sections is the other stuff and the projects. But the r00t could be a good base for some other task as just my personal stuff here. The r00t can be completely customised and extended with modules in mind.

See also the r00t help file.

Goals

The r00t project is not intended to be big and having much features. Just a basic website like almost all websites on the World Wide Web. In fact, the r00t project is used as my personal intra-net and as start page for my other stuff. At the same time, i wanted to build somethings such as the pyguicms but for some other things as technical documents as this is with the pyguicms.

Differences between r00t and PYGUICMS

There are some things that differ between r00t and PYGUICMS and some parts that aren't working the same way. One has some feature that the other don't have. The r00t is a basic version of the PYGUICMS.

Features that r00t has and pyguicms not:

In this list are maybe some points that needs to be implemented into the PYGUICMS project.

  • The way the news section is represented like the blog section of the pyguicms. The news sections has some more templates in the r00t project.
  • Javascript features to hidden/show the add comment form.
  • Google adds.
  • Google search.
  • Some code in the templates so that it don't list pages other than published. Note that this is a sad way of doing. This should be changed.
  • r00t store images in the database, while the pyguicms (planned to) store the images on the files system.
  • r00t has an autocompletion search field based on the keywords fields of the pages table. This feature still needs to be improved and will be ported to the pyguicms.

Note that the r00t project has advanced much more as the pyguicms. The above list isn't complete anymore and there are now to much things which deferency both projects. The future plans are to merge both projects togheter to get all best parts of both projects.

Screenshots

As the project progress, things change and screenshots may be quick outdated. We try to keep screenshots up to date and at the same time want to keep old screenshots for nostalgic purpose.
